Week 13 Slide Shows

Wow, I thought it was only week 6, but when I checked the 23 Thing website, I discovered that I have missed some exciting things. I hope to catch up or at least take my time through the tools I have missed, but for now am happy that week 13 presented me with a subject I knew something about.

I have been using Animoto for about a year and a half. I make slide shows for family gatherings and to show off what we are doing here at our Library. Our tech has posted them on our web page and I post them on my Facebook page (or email) so I can share my pictures.

I take gobs of pictures and this gives me a way to share them. I will continue to use this tool.

Here are a few of my favorite I have created. (Note many of them are remixes--I am generally not happy with them the first go round.)

Week Five :RSS Feeds

Considering I wasn't exactly sure what an RSS feed was a few days ago, I have made great strides this week and successfully subscribed to several feeds using Google Reader.

Today, I was brave enough to attempt to add them to my Blog which was completely painless! Surprise! What a person can learn!!

Initially, I search for feed regarding my favorite author, Dennis Lehane. In turn, I located cool stuff about Children's books on NPR and the NY Times. I subscribed and followed these through the week. For my blog posting, I chose the NPR children's book feed as well as USA Today, as I am guilty of not reading or viewing the national news everyday (unless it appears at the top of a web page).

So there you go...

Week Four: Photo Sharing

As the resident photographer at the Library and with my local service club, I rarely go anywhere without my camera. I am not a great photographer, but I do okay. I am happy that several years ago one of my photos was adopted as the logo for our adult winter reading program.

Also, I have the pleasure of looking at our Library card and knowing I took the picture of the building. What I didn't know at the time, was a school bus is reflected in windows of the building and lots of editing with Photoshop was necessary before it was ready for the printers.

I digress...the assignment, I have used Flikr for a while. It has served as the venue for me to upload pictures quickly to my new favorite website...animoto. Animoto allow you to upload your photos, select music, and instantly create a flashy slideshow. I post these on our Library webpage after big events.

I have posted several pics from my flikr account and tagged them with 23 things.

Happy viewing... until next week. patty:)
